Technical Product Manager, Japan

About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to join our global Technology team, based in our new Tokyo office in Nishi-Shinjuku. This role will be instrumental in supporting the growth of our Asia operations by collecting and analyzing business requirements from stakeholders, then converting these needs into actionable technical specifications for our engineering team.

This role requires a blend of Product Management, basic Python coding and stakeholder management skills.

This will be a full-time role, working Japan hours, and owning the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate directly with stakeholders to document requirements, converting them into clear user stories and product specifications. 
  • Act as the bridge between IT and business operations, focusing on energy trading markets (JEPX, EEX) to innovate integrated software solutions.
  • Provide insights for system enhancements, growth and optimization.
  • Engage in design, testing and system implementation phases for digital products.
  • Conduct thorough data validation and maintain detailed process documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system-specific issues through diligent research and analysis.
  • Facilitate user training to ensure smooth system adoption and operation.

 

About You

This person will be a collaborative individual, able to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to a diverse audience. In order to be successful in this role, this individual will need to be comfortable working with an international team split between Tokyo & Berlin, and should be ready to make an impact in proposing effective solutions. It is essential that this person has fluent language skills in both written & spoken Japanese and English, as a result of our international team.

In addition, we believe the following skills & competencies will best set someone up for success:  

  • A minimum of 2 years of tangible experience in a technical business analysis or technical product management role.
  • Proficiency in SQL to perform technical data duties. 
  • Experience with, or the proven curiosity to learn, Python. 
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships and prioritizing needs.
  • Collaborative spirit to work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic international environment.
